Britons Flock To VPNs To Dodge New Age Verification Checks Online

Britons Flock To VPNs To Dodge New Age Verification Checks Online

Authored by Owen Evans via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

Downloads of virtual private network (VPN) apps have surged in the UK as users look for ways to bypass new age verification rules introduced after the latest provisions of the Online Safety Act took effect on July 25.

The rules require online platforms to implement strict age checks to shield children from content deemed harmful, including bullying, pornography, self-harm, and hateful content.

They effectively mean that all adult internet users in the UK must prove they are not children to access certain websites.

Rather than upload their ID or have their faces scanned, users are moving towards VPNs.

A VPN allows users to establish a secure and encrypted connection over the internet. They effectively mask Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and anonymize online presences, making it more difficult for websites, advertisers, and government agencies to track a user’s activities.

On July 25, ProtonVPN said on X it was experiencing a surge in sign-ups from UK users.

Just a few minutes after the Online Safety Act went into effect last night, Proton VPN signups originating in the UK surged by more than 1,400,” ProtonVPN stated. “Unlike previous surges, this one is sustained, and is significantly higher than when France lost access to adult content.”

Created by the former Conservative government as the world’s first comprehensive online safety law, the Online Safety Act received Royal Assent in October 2023.

The now-Labour government states on its website that platforms “have a legal duty to protect children online.”

Telecommunications regulator Ofcom said on July 25 that the most popular adult service providers, including Pornhub, along with thousands of smaller sites, have committed to deploying age checks across their services.

This means it will be harder for children in the UK to access online porn than in any other OECD country,” it said, referring to Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development member nations.

Ofcom also said that other online platforms have now announced they will deploy age assurance, including Bluesky, Discord, Grindr, and X.

News aggregation website Reddit said that, from July 14, a third-party provider called Persona will perform age verification for the social media platform either through an uploaded selfie or “a photo of your government ID,” such as a passport.

Reddit will not have access to the uploaded photo, and Reddit will only store your verification status along with the birthdate you provided so you won’t have to re-enter it each time you try to access restricted content,” it said.

The Age Verification Providers Association lists several approved methods for age checks, including mobile phone account verification, credit database matching, transactional records, and digital ID apps.

Biometric age estimation can be done using facial or even voice blueprints, gestures, and keystrokes (how you type), though it is said that these methods are currently less well-developed than facial analysis, but are progressing fast.

Ofcom said that it is now actively checking compliance.

If companies fail to comply with their new duties, Ofcom has the power to impose fines and, in very serious cases, apply for a court order to block the site or app in the UK.

Google Trends data showed that searches for VPNs in the UK quadrupled following the law’s implementation.

A recent petition to repeal the act has already gathered more than 350,000 signatures. Many of the top 10 free apps in the UK Apple Store are currently VPNs.

‘Unintended Effects’

Economist Maxwell Marlow told The Epoch Times that he believed that the rise in the use of VPNs is “indicative of how short-sighted, malicious, and authoritarian this Act is.”

“It seems members from all parties were taken in by the spiel of ’safety first,’ disregarding concerned critics and specialists, about how this legislation will only crush freedom of speech and association, and not protect a single vulnerable person,” he said by email.

“Young and old know what VPNs are, no matter if the government tries to prevent their usage, they are ubiquitous and will easily side-step the provisions in the law. The government should repeal this dreadful law,” Marlow said.

Conservative Peer Lord Daniel Moylan told The Epoch Times that during the passage of the Online Safety Act, he challenged the government over the “unintended effects of implementing blanket protections for children from harm.”

“The government was not keen to engage and, remarkably, expressed confidence in Ofcom to get these fine balances right,” he said via email.

“I’m not surprised that many people appear to be seeking to circumvent requirements to disclose personal details to often foreign websites with no proven track record of data security. Wasn’t this predictable? And how many of those doing so are in fact children?”

Moylan previously told NTD’s “British Thought Leaders” that while the intention to protect children is “laudable,” he doesn’t believe that seeking to “regulate the entire internet is a proportionate or effective answer to that particular problem.”

‘Not a Silver Bullet’

An Ofcom spokesman told The Epoch Times by email that some teenagers might bypass checks.

“Until now, kids could easily stumble across porn and other online content that’s harmful to them without even looking for it. Age checks will help prevent that. We’re now assessing compliance to make sure platforms have them in place, and companies that fall short should expect to face enforcement action,” the spokesperson said.

“But age checks are not a silver bullet, and some determined teenagers may get round them. Ultimately, this needs to work alongside education, awareness campaigns and through supportive conversations with trusted adults.”

VPNs are legal in the UK.

A government spokesman told The Epoch Times by email that platforms “have a clear responsibility to prevent children from bypassing safety protections.”

“This includes blocking content that promotes VPNs or other workarounds specifically aimed at young users,” he said.  “Where platforms deliberately target UK children and promote VPN use, they could face enforcement action, including significant financial penalties.”

How Trump Just Turned Europe Into A Vassal Market

How Trump Just Turned Europe Into A Vassal Market

Submitted by Thomas Kolbe

On Sunday, the United States and the European Union agreed on a new framework for transatlantic trade. The outcome exposes Europe’s open flank – its dependency on foreign energy.

It was a home game for U.S. President Donald Trump, albeit on foreign soil, as he and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stepped in front of the cameras at Trump’s golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland. In a visibly upbeat mood, Trump announced what he called “the greatest trade deal ever” between the U.S. and the European Union.

America Reshapes Global Trade

The framework agreement—still pending ratification by EU member states and the European Parliament—imposes a 15% tariff on most EU exports to the United States. That’s half the originally threatened 30%, but still far above historic norms.

In return, the EU commits to energy imports worth $750 billion over the next three years—including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and petroleum products. And then there’s the MAGA component: investment in the American heartland. A whopping $600 billion is to be mobilized from European industries and invested in the United States, with a strong focus on defense manufacturing. The message from Trump is clear: if Europe wants to keep fighting its proxy war in Ukraine, it will now have to pay for American weapons. Nothing comes free—not even Europe’s newly rediscovered belligerence, which the U.S. appears increasingly reluctant to subsidize.

For selected strategic goods—aircraft components, key chemicals, semiconductor equipment, and generic pharmaceuticals—a “zero-for-zero” rule will apply.

Europe Without Leverage

This clause rounds out the package, which von der Leyen, visibly exhausted, praised as delivering “security and predictability” for both sides. Not exactly false—but the deal starkly reveals the EU’s geopolitical decline. Europe has now been forced into the energy orbit of the United States. In the end, Brussels looks like a student dutifully copying the dictation of its transatlantic teacher.

The EU is not the first to swallow Washington’s bitter pill. Recent deals with Japan and the UK suggest the new normal for tariffs is somewhere between 15% and 25%. The price of accessing the world’s largest consumer market has now been made explicit.

A Great Deal—for America

From a U.S. perspective, this is a great deal. Hundreds of billions in capital will flow from Europe to America. Some of it will help Europe paper over its self-inflicted wounds—its energy crisis being one, after cutting ties with Russian gas and shutting down German nuclear power.

Trump has secured two outcomes. First, U.S. tariff revenues will continue to rise. Second, the president has scored another PR win for American industry—following up on his Middle East tour a month ago, where he clinched multi-trillion-dollar investment commitments for U.S.-based projects.

EU-Europe Stays the Course Toward the Wall

Trump is doing what any rational realpolitik leader should do—pursuing national interest through trade leverage. His foreign policy is essentially trade policy. His domestic economy is made more competitive through deregulation, tax incentives, and aggressive promotion abroad. That, dear Chancellor Friedrich Merz, is what’s called location competition—a challenge Germany and the EU might embrace rather than resist. It could be a moment to reconsider failed policies and return to economic reason.

But that didn’t happen. During negotiations, the EU’s entrenched interests won out—at the expense of ordinary citizens. Brussels could have used the talks to scrap entire catalogs of non-tariff trade barriers. Instead, nothing was touched. Climate regulations, the Digital Services Act, harmonization rules that deter foreign investment—all remain intact.

The EU’s hidden protectionism, the true power base of Brussels’ corporatist ambitions, remains untouched.

Short-Term Relief, Long-Term Price

For Germany, the deal offers some short-term relief—especially for carmakers, chemical producers, and machine builders. Strategic industries benefit from zero tariffs on high-tech goods like aircraft parts and specialty chemicals. That helped avoid a trade escalation that would have devastated Germany’s export-heavy economy. Chancellor Merz called it a “desperately needed signal of economic pragmatism.”

But this partial reprieve comes at a price. The punitive 50% tariffs on steel and aluminum remain—a crushing burden for German basic industries. This deal is no fair trade; it’s an asymmetric arrangement in which Washington selectively relieves and structurally dominates.

Lessons from the Deal

What’s being sold as a “trade deal” is, in truth, a geopolitical alignment. EU-Europe has maneuvered itself into a dead-end by burning its last diplomatic bridges with Moscow. Now, with 60% of its energy needs dependent on imports, Brussels finds itself tethered to U.S. energy dominance. And Trump has no intention of letting Europe’s green welfare utopia flourish at America’s expense. Energy comes at a cost—and Brussels is beginning to grasp the real price tag of its green transformation experiment.

That green experiment, like Europe’s resurgent militarism, will weigh heavily on public finances. It’s now up to the voters to push for a course correction—or sink ever deeper into the pit they’ve dug themselves.

The deal also has major implications for monetary policy. It forces the EU deeper into the energy-mercantilist world of the U.S., reinforcing the petrodollar system. The investment shift toward U.S. soil will help shore up the dollar’s role as king of fiat currencies. The dollar remains the unit of account. The euro wasn’t even mentioned.

Doug Casey On Global Disintegration: Currency Collapse, Controlled Chaos, & The Rise Of Technocratic Tyranny

Doug Casey On Global Disintegration: Currency Collapse, Controlled Chaos, & The Rise Of Technocratic Tyranny

Via InternationalMan.com,

Matt Smith: All right, good morning, Doug. I think the biggest thing in the news is that Obama is a traitor. I mean, we know this officially now. Although a lot of this information had been uncovered in years past—about RussiaGate and all of that—the connections weren’t as clear as they are now, based on Tulsi’s release of information and what she’s told Trump. So much so that Trump felt quite confident recently, in an open forum at a press conference, to just outright call him a traitor. He said, “I’d like to say let’s give it time and just see, but we know he was a traitor.”

Doug Casey: I can’t wait to find out. Although I never thought of him in such an overt role. I’d only credited the fact that he was a homosexual rental boy in Chicago’s bathhouses. Too bad that’s been pretty well swept under the rug.

Matt Smith: I was always fixated on the citizenship or birth certificate thing personally. But you know, bathhouses, birth certificate, Columbia University—no one knew him when he went there. There are a lot of weird things in his past.

Doug Casey: That’s true. There are a lot of indications that he’s a genuine Manchurian Candidate. They don’t just come out of nowhere. But anybody can be elected president—or installed as president today. We almost had Kamala Harris, a total nothing-nobody who can’t even string together words into a coherent sentence.

Matt Smith: And we had Biden, who was unfit—incapable mentally.

Doug Casey: Yes, and they almost ran him instead of Kamala. This is all crazy. I guess the question is: Are they going to be able to prove that Obama was conducting a coup in the US? I’m not surprised, because coups occur—different types—all the time in all kinds of countries around the world. So why not the US? Although the US used to be unique in that it was formed to defend the average citizen against the government, that’s ancient history. That’s what the Bill of Rights is all about, which is unique, actually. But it’s a dead letter at this point.

Another question is: Will Trump pursue this thing right to the end? Can they mount evidence? Can they find a fair venue to try Obama? And even if they find that he’s criminally liable for treason, will they prosecute him right to the end? Major scandal. Much bigger than Benedict Arnold.

Matt Smith: Yeah, and it’s weird to make these declarations without—you’d assume there would be cases. Like, the declaration wouldn’t be made before there are actually cases filed.

Doug Casey: I agree. And Tulsi Gabbard impresses me as a very levelheaded person who wouldn’t just fly off the handle. Of course, she’s a hardcore leftist who believes in all kinds of standard leftist things, but they don’t have a lot to do with her current position running the so-called intelligence community. It’s funny they call it a “community.” That sounds so benign and beneficial. Everybody likes communities.

Our intelligence community is full of hardcore killers and sociopaths. I can’t wait to see how this plays out. It serves as a good distraction from the Epstein mess, that’s for sure.

Matt Smith: You’ve got to wonder—do they take this approach and really be aggressive? Because they can. Obviously, there’s a conspiracy there, which means all kinds of people could be swept up by this easily, and arrests could be made.

I mean, one of the most aggressive charges they used against the J6 people was conspiracy to overthrow the government, or something like that. Some major thing, and they went after them super hard—morning raids and everything.

If they really believe this, they could go after Comey, Clapper, Gina Haspel, and a whole bunch of people right away without even touching the president.

Of course, J6 was just little people. That was just the peasants. You can round them up. But it’s hunting big game when you go after these major-league criminals.

Doug Casey: I hope they don’t go after Hillary too hard and heavy. God forbid that Tulsi commits suicide or has an accident.

She could be added to a list of—how many here? Forty-five or fifty other possible Arkancides, as they say.

Matt Smith: So what’s your best guess on whether or not this will be something that serves as political theater that motivates the base for the next couple of years—appointing a special counsel, for instance, to investigate it—or will this actually turn into something real?

Doug Casey: I think it’s a coin flip. But it’s possible that this will make the big time. I mean, look at Watergate. Watergate was a big nothing. It was just a break-in for political reasons.

Matt Smith: One could say that was a coup.

Doug Casey: You could say that. And in that coup, it wasn’t the coup itself that was the problem. It was the cover-up that was.

Matt Smith: Well, what I mean is I think a lot of people used it against him and told Nixon—like all the Republicans in the Senate told him, “You don’t have the votes. You’ve got to get out of here,” you know, and he just walked away.

Doug Casey: There is a difference between what’s going on now and what happened in the Nixon days. Of course, nobody liked Nixon. I certainly don’t. He was a creepy guy and a disaster for the country. But the Democrats are really out-and-out communists at this point. I know that sounds inflammatory to say, but when it comes to their philosophical beliefs—yes, they’re all Marxists, ultra-hardcore leftists, socialists, statists, and what-have-you.

And we’re on the ragged edge, I still think, of a civil war in the US because the Red and Blue people hate each other. It’s not just a bunch of leftist students like in the ’60s. Nasty attitudes are widely inseminated throughout US society. Yeah, we could have a civil war. And if you do prosecute these horrible people, it’s hard to say what their supporters will do. These things can take on a life of their own.

Matt Smith: Yeah. And you’ve got to wonder, if you’re going to go after them—if you really wanted to target these people—you’d think you would spend the energy going and arresting them, collecting evidence, filing charges. Not just talking about them in the public domain.

Doug Casey: We’re not within the halls of power, and we don’t know what’s on Trump’s mind, how he might be colluding with various people, or how his enemies are colluding against him. But it’s an unstable situation. It amazes me that the stock market—and for that matter, the bond market—are so close to all-time highs.

Matt Smith: Things are good. It’s the golden age, Doug. I don’t know if you forgot.

Doug Casey: Oh, I’d pretty much forgotten. But I would not be surprised, actually. As overpriced as the stock market is, and with all the money that’s been printed, at some point it’s going to work its way through the python, and we could have really radical retail price rises.

So, you add a stock market crash to high inflation, and corporations laying off more people—I think we’re in for rough running for at least the next few years. I hope I’m wrong because I prefer good times to bad times. God forbid we live in an active war zone—especially an active civil war zone.

Matt Smith: And I think this Obama stuff adds another wrinkle to the overall objective, which I really believe Trump is attempting to pursue. As we’ve talked about months ago, it’s a global trade and monetary reset. I really believe that effort is underway, and that is going to be chaotic no matter what. And he has limited time to do it.

Doug Casey: And when we were talking before, you mentioned—who was it that came up with the ultra super-cockamamie idea of expiring currencies? Who’s doing that?

Matt Smith: It was on Sky News Australia. It says the Reserve Bank is quietly helping to build a world in which money could expire or be geographically restricted by jumping feet first into the world of programmable money.

Doug Casey: Good grief. Expiring money, which would almost force you to spend it. The way they see it is: stimulate the economy by spending and consuming. But that will destroy private capital and destroy savings. If digital currencies are bad—and they’re very, very bad—this is the ultimate expression of it. Expiring digital currencies.

It’s a criminally insane idea. And if the Australian central bank is playing with it, there are people who take it seriously.

Matt Smith: I’m sure all these things become possible with the GENIUS Act, which basically creates a structure for these stablecoins. And these stablecoins all have the possibility to do this.

I think it’s on its way no matter what. But Australia is a special case—maybe because they’re isolated and docile and unarmed, I don’t know. But they seem to be the test case. They got it really bad during COVID.

I have an Australian friend who didn’t see his wife and child for over a year because of the COVID restrictions. They were trapped in Australia, and due to their situation, they couldn’t leave, and he couldn’t enter. It was super crazy.

They also passed a law recently that says if you leave the country, you have to pay taxes as if you lived in Australia for three years. But you know that three-year limit will increase.

Doug Casey: They’re following in the footsteps of the United States from that point of view, aren’t they?

Matt Smith: They are. And then, right after they did that, they passed a law taxing unrealized gains.

Doug Casey: That was the main reason I didn’t become a Kiwi citizen after living there for years. In New Zealand, that’s already in effect for offshore assets. You’re taxed on gains at the end of the year, regardless of whether you sell or not.

The whole world, frankly, is going in the wrong direction, except for Argentina, where Milei is trying to go in the right direction. But of course, the bad guys are throwing as many roadblocks at him as they possibly can.

Matt Smith: Exactly. But in the world we’re in, you know—for the sake of it, let’s just use Klaus’ term “The Great Reset” of the economic system—every nation is overloaded with debt and obligations, and something must change. Something big must change.

It’s a fourth turning time. We just call it “The Great Reset” for the sake of it. And we have these stablecoins being part of it. We see that coming in. We see all the other economic stuff that Trump is doing. Part of it is a grab for money by the state.

You could look at these two laws I mentioned for Australia as capital controls, right?

So we’re going to see more and more capital controls.

They want to be able to sell private equity—make private equity stuff available in 401(k)s—to basically allow the billionaires to dump their shitty assets on the public.

They’re changing the banking rules so the banks can buy more treasuries.

So we have, within the scope of all this stuff, the possibility that they may actually go after a head of state as a traitor in the US. Not to say he doesn’t deserve it, but they may actually go after him.

Within the background of all of this, the most important part is what’s happening on the economic front, I think, and that is this global system reset.

Doug Casey: All the more reason why you need to activate a Plan B. In other words, get yourself a second residence in a country you like—other than your home country. Preferably a second citizenship. And foreign accounts.

Anything can happen anywhere. And getting back to what Trump will do about this treason thing with Obama… I think Trump believes, with very good reason, that unless he really cleans house of these people—which may be impossible to do for a number of reasons—once he’s out of office, they’re going to come after him with a vengeance.

Matt Smith: Especially now that he’s named names. The more rhetoric against them, the greater his risks become. He could try to become friends with them behind the scenes and smooth things over.

But when you’re coming out publicly and calling people traitors—especially the first black president—I think it’s hard to walk that back.

Gerald Celente says, “If nothing else, they take you to war.” When things go bad, they take you to war.

And we see the war stuff looking like it’s only going in one direction—which is up. They delivered US nuclear weapons to the UK for the first time in 15 years. Why would they do that?

Doug Casey: Why? That’s crazy, actually. It really is crazy. They’re looking for a real war.

Matt Smith: I think so too. And you mentioned something to me about bunkers in Germany being rebuilt?

Doug Casey: Yes. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday or the day before about how the German government has a plan to renovate all the bunkers that were built during the nuclear war scares of the 1980s—and the 1960s, for that matter. They’re renovating those. And why are they doing that? Because they’re looking at a war.

That ties in, incidentally, with one of the more insane things that Trump is proposing and pushing the European nations to do: increase their military spending up to around 5% of GDP. In most of these countries, that means doubling it. Doubling military spending.

Well, that might be good for Lockheed and General Dynamics and the rest of these Praetorian companies, but who’s the war going to be against for the Europeans? It must be Russia, because Trump is still providing weapons to the Ukrainians so they can kill each other.

Matt Smith: And he gave Russia a 50-day deadline.

Doug Casey: He’s so full of bluster… let’s hope he backs down from that. But things can get out of control when you have all this stupidity going on. Somebody could go psychotic, just as the pilot of an airliner can go psychotic. It can happen with people who are close to the red button—in Washington or Moscow or Tel Aviv or Brussels. Or London. Maybe it will just be a mistake. It doesn’t have to be a psychotic break.

Matt Smith: It’s crazy. These people are playing with fire. It’s really unbelievable. All those things are going on. Did you watch the Tucker interview with a German reporter from Bild? Did you see that by chance?

Doug Casey: No.

Matt Smith: Okay, I’m going to send it to you (link). You have to watch it. He is so insulting to the German people—how they’ve basically been broken, that they’re an occupied country, which they are.

And they have no self-respect. Their ally blew up their most important infrastructure—the largest industrial act of terrorism ever—and they don’t want to talk about it. They really believe that the Russians are their number-one threat, and yet they see all these migrants around and don’t look at their own leaders.

He was relentless about it. And he was joking, like, “You guys like this abuse I’m giving you.” It’s like they’re such a broken people now. I’ll send it to you—it’s hilarious and so accurate.

Doug Casey: I’d like to see that.

And in addition to the fact that they’re supposed to double their military spending— Germans have been programmed to be Marxists, leftists, and believe in the welfare state.

And it’s even worse than that, because a soft coup is going on in Germany. The AfD party—Alternative für Deutschland—which represents conservatism, is under serious attack. Most of the other parties are making moves to outlaw the AfD. Which is to say to outlaw anybody who’s not an overt socialist.

Whether they can pull it off or not, I don’t know. But the people running the German government—they’re just criminals.

Matt Smith: Yeah. And honestly, Germany was Europe. France too, I guess, in terms of powerhouses. But Germany especially was the powerhouse, and they’ve just destroyed themselves—or allowed themselves to be destroyed—by our blowing up of the Nord Stream pipeline.

It completely destroyed their industry. And importing all these migrants… all these terrible things they’ve done. Which, of course, we’re doing a lot of in the US too.

Anyway, he addresses that point you just mentioned in that interview as well. So you’ll love it. You’ll find it very entertaining. Tucker’s on fire. This Bild guy is a major reporter—he interviews heads of state.

Tucker’s just trying to convince him—trying to change his mind. And the guy doesn’t change his mind at all, but Tucker’s doing his best. It’s hilarious how insulting he is to them.

The other thing I think is worth mentioning is that I was going through and reading the Big Beautiful Bill… I gave up on the effort because nobody cares.

But you know, one thing that stood out to me in there was the ICE budget, which was up 800%. A lot of Americans—or a lot of MAGA people—would cheer that as a positive thing. But there’s an article in Newsweek about it.

These aren’t people obviously friendly to Trump—Newsweek is mainstream press. I know they’re terrible people, I totally agree. But what they do here is highlight some of the features of this increase.

One of the particularly interesting things is that ICE now has a budget that is higher than the military expenditure of all but 15 countries.

That seems a little over the top.

Doug Casey: Are the ICE guys going to be running around in uniforms, or in plain clothes so they’re more surreptitious? Do we know what they’re going to do with the extra money?

Matt Smith: We know parts of it. For instance, they’re going to spend $45 billion to build jails for single adults and females.

Doug Casey: Wow $45 billion? That’s a lot.

Matt Smith: Yeah. I mean, I thought we were going to deport the people, not just keep them locked up, right? So what’s the point of the jails?

Doug Casey: Well, I’m fine if they’re deporting criminals, ne’er-do-wells, parasites. The US tends to draw the worst kind of people now because we offer such massive benefits. Scams attract these people.

It’s funny—there’s a group I’m part of, a bunch of rich guys. One of them is in the Hamptons, and he’s friendly with his gardener, his housekeeper, the usual entourage. He talks to them because he’s interested in these things.

And he says that among the migrant community, it’s well known exactly which benefits you can get, how you get them, how to fill out the forms, and how not to get caught. They’re picking up all these great freebies and subsidies.

They know exactly how to game the system. It’s why they came to the country. Plus, in a place like the Hamptons—or for that matter, Aspen—I’ll bet it’s higher in Aspen now. You pay $30 an hour, cash, tax-free, to these people. It’s an incredible scam.

Matt Smith: So, let’s say you’re going to house 1 million people. That’s $45,000 per person.

Doug Casey: That’s just amazing, isn’t it?

Matt Smith: Yeah. That is a lot of money on jails.

Doug Casey: And we already have more jails per capita—by far—than any other country in the world, including Russia and China.

Matt Smith: And my guess is it doesn’t cost $45,000 for a jail cell. If you’re building big, if you’re doing this Alligator Alley stuff—that swamp one—how much could that cost per holding cell?

Doug Casey: Well, in the cages they erected at Guantanamo—this was 25 or 30 years ago—when they built those cages, even back then they were $50,000 a cage. That’s like $150,000 today.

How can you spend that much money for basically a cage?

Matt Smith: And those were theoretically terrorists, at least theoretically. So I can imagine there’s a certain number of real bad actors that came through in the invasion under Biden, no doubt. If you wanted to imprison those guys, I guess I can understand that.

Doug Casey: I would understand it a little more if they’d actually given them trials. Before you put somebody in a cage for many years, there ought to be a trial. But there was never a trial for any of these people.

Matt Smith: But with these invaders, I just feel like—we’re deporting them. So I don’t understand why we would need a holding facility for 100,000—or a million—whatever that number is.

I just don’t know why we would need that, unless you’re looking toward the future and imagining a future of great disruption, where there might be dissidents of all varieties—not necessarily just illegal immigrants.

And you might want to use the 16th-largest military in the world against them.

Doug Casey: That’s right. They’ll want to round up the usual suspects and suspected enemies of the state.

Matt Smith: Well, that’s what concerns me.

Doug Casey: I’ve said for many years, I’d much rather watch this on my widescreen down here than out my front window in the US. It’s going to get serious. It’s got to get serious as the bond market blows up, interest rates go much higher, and the stock market collapses. It’s at all-time highs by all conventional measures.

Well, I can wait to see what happens. And I hope I’m dead wrong about this.

Matt Smith: But it’s all coalescing in this very limited window of time, I think, because basically Trump wants to make something happen. He’s got three years to make it happen.

Doug Casey: I read in WaPo today—Washington’s fag hag rag—which has improved greatly since Bezos fired most of the ultra-leftist staff. They just have ordinary leftists now. They had an article about how Rahm Emanuel is planning, it seems, to run for president in 2028.

Matt Smith: This was the chief of staff under Obama, right?

Doug Casey: Yes, exactly. He’s very slick and very smart. And interestingly—although of course he was born in the US—he’s also an Israeli citizen. Gee, I think that would be great, to have the president of the US be a citizen of Israel, not just a supporter of Israel.

Matt Smith: And his brother is one of the biggest Hollywood agents and is the owner of the UFC.

Doug Casey: I didn’t know that.

Matt Smith: Yeah, it was his brother who basically waged a personal jihad against Kanye for the things he noticed.

Doug Casey: And of course, Trump is a fan of the UFC. I like watching cage fighting too. But Trump really likes it.

What was it—they’re going to have a cage fight on the White House lawn sometime?

When is that?

Matt Smith: I guess it would be July 4th of next year, which is the 250th anniversary.

Doug Casey: Yeah, that’s really funny. We can’t have gladiatorial combats, but cage fighting is as close as you can get.

Matt Smith: Maybe if things deteriorate enough, we can get back to the old days where we have real gladiators out there. Maybe we’ll live long enough to see that.

You know, have migrants fight for their freedom.

It’s going to get wild, though, Doug, because I think the biggest thing people have to realize is—there’s all this chaos happening, and there’s a drive to increase wars, not decrease them. The money is being spent. Society’s attitudes are being shaped.

This Tucker interview with the Bild guy—Tucker said, “I get the impression the German people see Vladimir Putin as a much greater threat to Germany than they do their own leadership or the problems they have socially.” And the Bild guy said, “Yes, that’s true.”

Doug Casey: They’ve been totally programmed. Absolutely programmed. It’s insane.

But there’s even more that’s changing. For hundreds of years, it’s been accepted among nation-states that wars are fought by the peasants in fields, but the king or president or top people are insulated. You don’t think of killing them.

Well, the Israelis have done that on a massive scale—both with Hamas and Hezbollah, and now Iran, an actual nation-state. And the US is famous for sending out assassins in the form of drones. We don’t call them assassinations. We call them high-value targets. They’re not assassinated—they’re just high-value targets.

This is a new thing. Even during World War 2, it is said—though it’s hard to verify—that Hitler’s staff suggested assassinating Stalin and his top henchmen to perhaps overthrow the Soviet Union. Good idea. Hitler supposedly said that it would be improper and quashed it.

But the US and Israel are now doing things that even Hitler thought were a bad idea. I think it’s a good idea, frankly, because the miscreants that run governments should be afraid for their own lives and not feel insulated from the bad things they do. But like anything, these things can get out of control.

Matt Smith: That’s true. But my worry is that the success Israel has had with this—excluding Iran, which didn’t go as they hoped—has validated that strategy.

They may feel like they could take on almost anybody that way. I think that they feel that if they could do it this way, they could actually take down Russia this way.

They’ll never win a conventional war on the battlefield. They don’t want it to go nuclear. But what might they do using this strategy?

If they think they can get away with it—if they think they could pull off some super-effective, highly coordinated, Palantir-planned, AI-generated attack on multiple key places at the right time—I don’t think they’d be successful. But if you try it, you’re playing with fire.

Doug Casey: There’s a good chance Israel isn’t going to survive another decade as a nation-state. It’s true they’ve taken out all of their enemies—or supposed enemies—through all the color revolutions.

Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Egypt—which is being bribed to be their BFF by the US. In addition to the fact that we send Israel $4 billion a year. I don’t know when that started—around the time of the USS Liberty incident.

I question whether Israel is going to last long. There’s just too much antipathy toward them at this point, given what they’re doing.

Matt Smith: Well, the internal disruption could be bad. I saw an article several days ago where the IDF was calling up 54,000 Orthodox Jewish students for conscription. Now, the Supreme Court passed a law last year saying they were no longer exempt from these conscription drives. But this is the first time there’s been an actual effort by the government to do it.

Fifty-four thousand, as a percentage of the population, is significant. If you applied that number to the US, it would be the equivalent of calling up over a million people—calling up a group that was once untouchable to participate. The internal strife that could come from that alone could take it down.

Doug Casey: It’s fun to watch. Well—not so fun to watch.

Matt Smith: The main game at the center of all this is the monetary and fiscal matters, I think they’re trying to address, which are part of this Great Reset. That’s the main show. You’ve got to keep your eye on the ball, right?

Doug Casey: There’s nothing we can do about it except be aware and insulate ourselves to the greatest degree possible. And part of that is financially.

I’m pleased to say that, finally, all these crappy little mining stocks are starting to move up. I’m just hoping—it’s quite possible—it’ll be like it was in the ’70s and part of the ’80s, when as a group, these stocks went 10-to-one, with many going 100-to-one, and actually a couple of 1,000-to-one shots—one of which I owned, actually.

Matt Smith: Yeah. You know, when you think about it, during the ’70s the dollar lost between, what, 75% and 90% of its value, right?

And I think we’re in that period again where that has to happen. The dollar must be depreciated—it’s been a stated objective of the administration. So that factor, as a driving force behind these stock moves, would make sense.

Doug Casey: Yeah. And in the meantime, the rich are getting richer, and the poor, the middle class, and even the bottom of the upper middle class are being squeezed. What a witch’s brew.

Matt Smith: Yeah, no kidding. One last thing I’ll say is, the grifting that’s happening—not just grifting, but the outright corruption—is pretty shocking.

Of course, we have the Trump Coin, which was launched near the inauguration. That was a good scam.

Doug Casey: What’s it trading at now? Do we know?

Matt Smith: I don’t know. I know Truth Social, Trump’s holding company, now owns $3 billion of Bitcoin.

But they also floated this idea of a tariff on copper. And right before that, someone front-ran that trade—maybe by a minute, maybe three minutes—and made a ton of money.

There’s so much of that going on, it’s actually incredible.

Doug Casey: It is so profitable to be well-connected with high-level government officials. It really is.

Matt Smith: It’s clearly illegal—unless you’re a congressperson. But people are doing it, and no one seems to care.

Anyway, all right. I think we’ll leave it there for today.

Doug Casey: Thanks, Matt.

*  *  *

If you’ve made it this far, you already know we’re living through a time of historic upheaval—politically, economically, and socially. The chaos isn’t random. It’s accelerating by design. And as Doug and Matt made clear, the monetary system is at the core of it all.

So what comes next? We believe the end of the fiat currency era is at hand—and with it, one final, explosive bull market in gold. But this isn’t just about gold… it’s about preparing yourself for what could be the most radical transformation in financial history. That’s why we’re inviting you to watch Doug Casey’s new video: The Last Gold Bull Market – Your Final Chance for Big Gains

Putin Informs Bibi He’s Ready To Mediate On Iran’s Nuclear Program As Trump Makes More Threats

Putin Informs Bibi He’s Ready To Mediate On Iran’s Nuclear Program As Trump Makes More Threats

Russia has long offered the West to mediate with Iran over its nuclear program. After earlier this month batting down reports claiming that Moscow is on board with the Trump demand of zero enrichment (the Kremlin rejected that this is its stance), President Vladimir Putin is once again vying to play chief diplomat in the Middle East, a region where Russia’s military has been somewhat on the retreat in the wake of Bashar al-Assad’s ouster from Damascus.

In a Monday telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Putin emphasized Moscow’s willingness to engage in efforts to seek a negotiated resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue – which has been source of threats and counter-threats between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

A Kremlin readout stated, “In light of the recent escalation in the Iranian-Israeli confrontation, Russia has expressed its readiness to assist in every possible way to facilitate a diplomatic solution concerning Iran’s nuclear program.”

Via AFP/Sputnik

This month, Putin has been having meetings with Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, to discuss Iran’s nuclear program as well as the recent 12-day conflict with Israel.

Russia has reiterated its support for Iran’s right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy – again, contrary to the claims of recent Western sources. However, the Kremlin has stopped short of offering military assistance, at a moment more Israeli action could loom.

The UK, France, and Germany have meanwhile announced renewed nuclear negotiations with Iran in Istanbul, warning that UN sanctions could be reimposed if progress isn’t made.

Tehran has on the other hand remained firm that it is its sovereign right to enrich uranium. Though admitting that some key nuclear facilities are damaged or largely destroyed in the wake of the US attacks which capped the 12-day war, Iranian leaders have constantly signaled that they still have the capacity to enrich.

President Trump on Monday issued yet another warning directed at Tehran:

Speaking during a news conference in Scotland beside the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said that Iran was “sending very bad signals, very nasty signals”.

“And they shouldn’t be doing that,” he said. “We wiped out their nuclear possibilities. They can start again. If they do, we’ll wipe it out faster than you can wave your finger at it.”

“We will do that gladly, openly and gladly,” he said.

Of course, it’s still anything but certain whether their nuclear capabilities were completely ‘wiped out’. Many analysts have pointed to the likelihood that much uranium was moved before the US strikes, or that there are bunkers so far underground that the biggest and most penetrating bombs in America’s arsenal can’t reach them.

So far, Israel has refrained from launching any renewed strikes – despite that Iran’s air defenses over much of the country were reportedly demolished, giving Israel freedom of the skies – likely because Trump wants the ceasefire to hold, as he can present himself as ‘peacemaker’ in the region.

The Rise Of Zohran Mamdani: Why The Radical Left Is Doubling Down On Extreme Socialism

The Rise Of Zohran Mamdani: Why The Radical Left Is Doubling Down On Extreme Socialism

Authored by Brandon Smith via BirchGold.com,

Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old New York State Assembly member and self-described democratic socialist, stunned political insiders by clinching the June primary over establishment figures like Andrew Cuomo. His platform is unapologetically bold:

Mamdani has also courted controversy, refusing to denounce the phrase “globalize the Intifada” (he calls it a “human-rights slogan”) and later insisting he “oppose[s] any incitement to violence.”

He’s promised to use city power to enforce the International Criminal Court warrant and, in a May forum, labeled India’s Prime Minister Modi a “war criminal” over the Gujarat riots.

Here’s what I want you to notice: This is not policy tinkering. Rather, it’s a strategic escalation.

Mamdani’s rise reflects the classic arc of radicalization:

Start with popular grievances, then double‑down into bold, uncompromising extremes.

And for those watching closely, this is a familiar arc:  We’re now face-to-face with Batman’s nefarious arch-nemesis, The Joker, unleashed. The Joker’s policies and rhetoric are designed to incite total chaos, in the hopes of entirely disrupting society.

Joker politics: From order to chaos

Batman, of course, represents unflinching law, order and justice. He’s a vigilante, but a vigilante with more respect for the law than most police and politicians in his fictional realm of Gotham City. Batman serves as a potent conservative force, reining in excesses and punishing evildoers in a quest to make Gotham City a safer, better place for its citizens.

The Joker, on the other hand, represents pure chaos and the unhinged, unadulterated desire for power. Not traditional power (the means to control) but a more primal force: The ancient power to corrupt and destroy. The Joker is a pure psychopath who believes his evil is universal and that normal people hide behind “social constructs” to avoid admitting they want to burn down the world just like he does. He revels in the despair of calamity and the fall of moral righteousness.

I’m specifically reminded of Christopher Nolan’s film Batman Begins in which Commissioner Gordon first warns Batman about “escalation” and reveals the calling card of the Joker:

“What about escalation? …We start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics. We start wearing Kevlar, they buy armor piercing rounds…”

The left’s rules: Never admit, always escalate

In my analysis of the political left and their behavior I’ve noted many times that they seem random and chaotic but they do follow certain rules.

Rule #1: Leftists never admit they are wrong.

Rule #2: Leftists ALWAYS double down.

In other words, when they think they are losing political power, they will escalate – not tactfully or with dialogue, but with increasingly radical proposals meant to overwhelm and destabilize. Diplomacy is not in their nature; domination is.

This pattern of escalation is exactly why so many conservatives, moderates, and independents gravitated to Donald Trump. His blunt, unapologetic stance against the left’s chaos stood in stark contrast to the incrementalism of establishment politicians. After all, this same chaos gave us pandemic lockdowns, ideological indoctrination in public schools, unchecked street violence, and now a financial environment where interest payments on government debt are climbing by a trillion dollars every few months.

Ask a committed leftist why they’re doing this, and you’ll rarely get a coherent policy rationale. Their answer, directly or indirectly, is usually some variation of: “burn it all down.” That’s not hyperbole – it’s the ethos.

And it’s precisely why Trump’s promise to take a wrecking ball to this agenda gained such traction.

In the early days of this shift, the left didn’t quite know how to respond. Their sources of power – federal funding, NGOs, and corporate backing – began to dry up. Their sphere of influence shrank to deep-blue strongholds like L.A., New York, and Seattle, where progressive officials still shield them from the consequences of their actions.

Which brings us back to New York. What we’re witnessing with the rising popularity of Zohran Mamdani isn’t just a last gasp. It’s a new wave of escalation.

Doubling down on socialism

For years, Democrats avoided openly aligning with socialism, understanding that most Americans – even those on the left – view it with suspicion. The term itself was treated like political poison, and whenever conservatives raised concerns about creeping socialist or Marxist policies, they were dismissed as alarmists or conspiracy theorists.

That tactic is now being abandoned. Increasingly, Democratic candidates and activists are embracing far-left economics and authoritarian state planning not as a hidden agenda, but as a central part of their platform. They’re not softening their rhetoric or disguising their goals – they’re taking off their masks and leaning into the very ideologies they once denied.

Zohran Mamdani is a case in point. Though initially criticized by party insiders as too extreme, his support continues to grow – particularly among young, urban progressives. His defenders argue that he’s bringing moral clarity to the conversation. But look closer at his policies and you’ll see a familiar pattern of failed central planning: rent freezes that reduce supply, punitive taxes that drive out investment, and costly housing programs that may take a decade to deliver results – if ever.

The likely outcome? A mass exodus of middle- and upper-income earners, an eroding tax base, and declining services for those left behind. (It’s already happened in cities like San Francisco and Chicago.) Mamdani’s platform risks pushing New York down the same path.

Still, instead of tapping the brakes, progressive media outlets are promoting him as the party’s future. And Democratic leaders, rather than correcting course after their 2024 collapse, seem ready to double down.

Why? Because in their worldview, admitting error would violate Rule #1.

What comes next

Again, socialism, Marxism, and communism stand in direct opposition to the principles the left most despises: free markets, faith-based morality, national pride, and Western cultural heritage. Whether they realize it or not, many progressives are searching for a radical counterbalance to traditional American values—an ideological Joker to destroy what remains of our Batman institutions.

Could they self-correct? Sure. They could admit their policies have failed, that their ideals are out of step with the majority, and that their efforts to deconstruct American norms have caused more harm than good. But that would mean violating Rule #1.

So instead, as populist sentiment continues to build and Americans grow increasingly skeptical of globalist priorities, the left is likely to retreat further into ideological extremism. They may even gain short-term momentum. We’ve already seen it elsewhere:

  • Canada: The backlash against Justin Trudeau’s failed leadership has not led to moderation but rather opened the door to Mark Carney – an economic globalist poised to carry the same agenda with a sharper edge.

  • Germany: following frustration with center-left coalitions, far-left parties like Die Linke have gained traction by proposing radical redistribution schemes and aggressive climate mandates.

  • Australia: the rise of the Greens and far-left independents in reaction to center-left Labor compromises has shifted national debates toward more radical territory.

This pattern is global: when progressive leaders fail, the left doesn’t pivot to moderation. They seek out even more uncompromising ideologues to carry their banner.

This is the cycle: when progressivism fails, it doesn’t reform – it doubles down.

So what does this mean for the rest of us?

I believe it’s prudent to prepare for both political and economic turbulence. Expect more civil unrest, more authoritarian proposals, and more erosion of economic freedom.

But that doesn’t mean we’re powerless.

One of the most effective things individuals can do is protect their financial future from systemic instability. When institutions crumble or fiat currencies falter, history has shown that physical assets like gold and silver can help insulate savings from the chaos. While some prepare for societal collapse with bunkers and bug-out bags, the more strategic move may simply be this: transfer a portion of your wealth into something that doesn’t burn.

In uncertain times, gold isn’t just a hedge – it’s Batman’s utility belt. It’s what you reach for when chaos reigns and the usual tools of defense no longer work. When the Joker lights the fuse, physical gold and silver serve as a fortress – real assets that endure, even in a world set ablaze by ideological arson.

Attacking Critical Nodes? US Fighter Jet Factories At Risk Of Labor Strike By Democrat-Aligned Union

Attacking Critical Nodes? US Fighter Jet Factories At Risk Of Labor Strike By Democrat-Aligned Union

A major strike is looming at Boeing’s St. Louis defense hub after unionized factory workers rejected a contract offer on Sunday. A seven-day “cooling-off” period is now underway, offering a narrow window to revive negotiations. If no deal is reached, the labor action could disrupt critical supply chains for fighter jets and other critical military aircraft, at a time when global conflict is escalating, inventories for weapons are running low, and defense preparedness has been a top priority across Western nations.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 837, which represents 3,200 Boeing defense workers in Missouri and Illinois and is affiliated with the AFL–CIO/CLC trade union, said its members overwhelmingly voted down a new labor contract with Boeing on Sunday.

“IAM Union members delivered a clear message: the proposal from Boeing Defense fell short of addressing the priorities and sacrifices of the skilled IAM Union workforce,” IAM Local 837 wrote in a statement on its website.

The previous labor contract expired at 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, after which a seven-day cooling-off period commenced, following which a strike could be initiated this time next week.

Boeing released a statement, indicating its labor negotiators were “disappointed” with the union that “voted down the richest contract offer we’ve ever presented to IAM 837, which addressed all their stated priorities.”

Boeing’s offer, which was endorsed by IAM Local 837’s bargaining committee, included a $5,000 signing bonus, 8% wage increase in the first year and work schedule changes intended to improve quality of life. All-in, the contract would’ve boosted average wages by 40%, the company said.-Bloomberg

“We’ve activated our contingency plan and are focused on preparing for a strike. No talks are scheduled with the union,” Boeing noted.

A strike would halt production of key military aircraft and drones, including F-15, F/A-18, T-7A, and MQ-25, threatening Boeing’s already struggling defense division, which hasn’t turned an annual profit since 2021.

The last time St. Louis workers went on strike was in 1996, and they don’t have a long history of labor activism, unlike Boeing’s unions in the Pacific Northwest, noted Melius Research analyst Scott Mikus.

One must ask whether foreign adversaries, as part of their hybrid warfare campaign to implode the US from within, have exploited this union in an attempt to strike a critical node in America’s defense manufacturing hub.

After all, the union has a long history of supporting the Democratic Party, whose radical leftist wing has increasingly embraced socialism, Marxism, and anti-American rhetoric.

San Francisco Restricts RV Parking In Effort To Combat Homelessness

San Francisco Restricts RV Parking In Effort To Combat Homelessness

Authored by Dylan Morgan via The Epoch Times,

San Francisco has approved a new two-hour parking limit on all oversized vehicles in an attempt to prevent homeless people from living in RVs and to reclaim public spaces across the city.

The policy was passed by city supervisors in a 9–2 vote on July 22.

“No child should grow up in San Francisco forced to live in a car, and no parent should have to raise their child in those conditions,” San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said in his introduction of the plan in June.

This legislation combines compassion with accountability, offering a clear path to housing while restoring safety, cleanliness, and accessibility to our streets and public spaces.”

This policy is part of Lurie’s Breaking the Cycle plan, an initiative that aims to transform San Francisco’s response to homelessness and addiction.

According to the ordinance, in May the Healthy Streets Operation Center identified approximately 500 large vehicles parked in San Francisco’s public streets, of which more than 430 were occupied.

It adds that last year, the city estimated that more than 1,400 households were living in vehicles, a 37 percent increase from 2022.

The city said in a June 10 statement that the mayor expanded the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing’s rehousing subsidy program to support up to 115 families living in large vehicles. It added that housing will be offered based on individuals’ needs and eligibility.

“By offering a bridge to prevention, housing and social services, we are addressing the root causes of vehicular homelessness and fostering a pathway out of homelessness for those in need,” said Shireen McSpadden, the department’s executive director.

RV dwellers living on city streets before the end of May were eligible to receive temporary exemption from this parking limit through a permit.

This permit program, adopted by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency on June 17, requires these individuals to accept short- or long-term housing, among other conditions.

Jennifer Friedenbach, executive director of the Coalition on Homelessness, said that she believes city officials are behind on establishing details of the permit program.

“I think that there’s going to be people who lose their RVs. I think there’s going to be people who are able to get into shelter, but at the expense” of people with higher needs, like those sleeping on sidewalks, she said.

“Whites Only” Town Draws Anger While “Blacks Only” Town Gets Applause

“Whites Only” Town Draws Anger While “Blacks Only” Town Gets Applause

Last week, Cincinnati, OH made the national news after video footage went viral of crowds exiting a “black culture” jazz music festival.  Marauding groups of the fatigue subset (the usual suspects) attacked at least three unsuspecting white victims as they walked along the bustling business district.  One victim was an older man who was stomped and punched repeatedly into the road by multiple assailants.  Another victim was a woman who was beaten unconscious.

Why did they do it?  Because those people were convenient targets, it would seem.  Or, perhaps simply because they were the most convenient white targets.  It’s hard to say, but one can make an educated guess according to the evidence and common sense.

Most witnesses filmed the incidents or laughed.  Keep in mind that if this was a group of white attackers targeting lone black victims, the national news would be in an uproar and there would be riots in the streets.  As it stands, the Mayor of Cincinnati and the media have only briefly acknowledged the violence because it was exposed on social media.  The discussion will disappear down the rabbit hole in a week or less as with all such crimes.

As the “black fatigue” debate continues, the general consensus is that solutions are few and difficult due to Democrat leadership in most major cities and also legal structures that prevent any separation of conflicting groups based on race.  As Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert cartoon strip, famously noted after discovering a poll in which over half of all black respondents said they don’t like white people:

“Based on the way things are going, the best advice I can give to White people, is to get the Hell away from Black people. There’s no fixing this. You just have to escape.”

Apparently some white Americans took this revelation to heart.  One group called “Return To The Land” has launched an initiative in Arkansas with the goal of building a town of people limited to traditional values and European descent.  The project, operating on private club laws on a 150 acre expanse, has of course draw the ire of numerous activist groups and the leftist media.

The group was at least partially inspired by efforts in South Africa by Afrikaners to protect themselves from genocidal black communist movements in the region.  Some towns in South Africa have formed with exclusively white residents and farmers.  This comes after thousands of murders which they argue are race related.

Black commentators refer to the group as “white supremacist” (they are actually separatists, not supremacists) and call for their organization to be taken down through lawsuits.

The obvious question needs to be asked:  Why do these critics care?  Calls for black Americans to separate and isolate from whites have been rampant the last several years and such efforts are widely applauded.  The low IQ commentators above ask what would happen if “blacks tried to do the same thing”?  If they did a modicum of research they would discover that black Americans already have, many times.

In fact, only a few years ago the media was lavishing praise on a blacks only town called “Freedom” being established in rural Georgia.  There were no accusations of malice or racism, only rivers of fanfare.

The double standard is clear.  Black only town = stunning and brave – White only town = evil and fascist.

Black critics argue that the Return to the Land project is unnecessary because rural towns across America are already predominantly white.  If this is true, then why does one more white town enrage them so much?

Maybe it’s not so much quiet separation that bothers leftists; it’s the open and loud call to separate that angers them.  It’s the lack of fear on the part of white Americans.  It’s important to understand that for decades progressives have used the power of white guilt to facilitate gains in political power and social influence.  But what happens when that guilt disappears?

Ideally, none of this would be needed and all groups within the US could unite around a shared culture of American values.  However, this is not the case.  Far-left ideology has permeated the black community and ghetto culture has made coexistence impossible in the majority of cases.  A percentage of black Americans are waking up to the problem and are trying to reverse course, but it may be too late.

In terms of legality, the Arkansas group will certainly face a multitude of challenges.  Laws regarding private clubs do allow for discrimination, but not for skin color.  Selective membership can be applied for groups that are based on a shared ancestry (an Sub-Saharan African Women’s club can legally discriminate against anyone who is not descended from Sub-Saharan Africa, for example).  This may be why Return to the Land specifies that they are looking for people of European descent (a majority percentage of European DNA).  It gives them legal latitude to block entry to certain undesirables.

How the group handles private property is another matter.  There are legal loopholes that allow for the group to congregate in the same area, as long as traditional property sales don’t involve discrimination.  Access to the property would therefore have to be tied somehow to private club laws.  Return to the Land specifically notes on their website that they do not engage in real estate sales or rentals.

The separation, though, is not just about genetic heritage, it’s also about principles and culture.  Beyond the legal debate, it’s fair to ask if people should be free in general to choose their associations; to choose who they live close to?  Logic and reason would say “yes”.  Why is it okay for one group (black Americans) to build their own town, but not okay for another group (white Americans)?

Why are leftists insistent on forced associations, particularly when it comes to whites?

Because that is how they accumulate power.  The most productive group, the most wealthy group, must be forced to feed the needs of all orbiting groups.  Minority groups can be tribal but white Americans cannot, because they are the resource pillar needed for the socialist machine to function.  Separation undermines the foundations of the multicultural agenda, but also the socialist economic agenda.  The progressive structure falls apart if enough whites walk away.  It’s happening now in South Africa and the same result would be inevitable in the US.

Ron Paul Recommends ‘Nobody’ For Fed Chairman

Ron Paul Recommends ‘Nobody’ For Fed Chairman

President Trump has recently suggested that, unless Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell cuts interest rates, the president might revert to his The Apprentice days and tell Powell, “you’re fired.”

President Trump backtracked on firing Powell after the president’s comments caused stock markets to fall. However, it is almost certain that President Trump will not reappoint Powell when Powell’s term ends in May.

Media reports indicate the leading candidates to replace Powell include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, former Federal Reserve Board Governor Kevin Warsh, and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett.

A more interesting question than who will replace Powell is why would anyone want to, since the next Fed chairman will likely face another Fed-caused meltdown.

The national debt is over 37 trillion dollars and rising. Yet few in Congress are serious about cutting federal spending. This puts pressure on the Fed to keep interest rates low to limit the cost of ongoing debt interest payments. So, the Fed continues monetizing the debt, pumping more money into the economy, weakening the dollar’s purchasing power, and eroding the American people’s standard of living. The Federal Reserve’s low interest rate policy also distorts the market, leading to the bubble-boom-and-bust business cycle that has plagued the American economy since the last link between the dollar and gold was severed in 1971.

The Fed’s job is also made more difficult by a reduced demand for Treasury securities among investors, causing the Fed to increase its purchases. This pumps more money into the economy, further eroding the dollar’s value.

Concerns about the national debt’s effect on monetary policy are a key factor behind the recent increase in gold prices and the interest in cryptocurrencies. The danger posed by the national debt is one reason why foreign countries are increasing their gold holdings and considering challenging the US dollar’s world reserve currency status.

Whoever succeeds Jerome Powell as Fed chairman will face a no-win choice. He could try to keep interest rates low to ensure the federal government’s interest payments remain manageable, at the cost of making it more likely the US economy will face another Federal Reserve caused meltdown.

Instead, he could try increasing rates to limit price increases thus raising the cost of managing government (and private sector) debt to unsustainable levels, throwing the economy into a severe downturn.

Congress members and President Trump are attacking Chairman Powell for spending over two billion dollars on Federal Reserve headquarters renovations.

This is a waste of taxpayer money, but it pales in comparison to the harm suffered by the American people because of the Federal Reserve’s inflationary policies.

Treasury Secretary Bessent has suggested expanding the investigation beyond the costs of renovating the Fed headquarters to examination of “the entire Federal Reserve institution” to determine if the Fed has “succeeded in its mission.”

This suggests Secretary Bessent would support passing the Audit the Fed legislation, which is a step toward returning to a constitutional and sound monetary policy.

However, anyone who understands Austrian economics knows a fiat money system managed by a secretive central bank can never succeed in creating lasting prosperity and will eventually crash the economy.

No person or persons can know the “correct” interest rates, and the Federal Reserve’s attempts to control interest rates are destructive like other central planning. The proper answer to who should be Fed chairman is…nobody.
