It was a busy day for SEC Chair Gary Gensler…

With bitcoin smashing to new record highs after Trump’s trifecta victory, Gensler – potentially only weeks away from being removed from office – appeared to double-down on his position on (predominantly negative) crypto policy and enforcement.

As CoinTelegraph’s Turner Wright reports, in prepared remarks for a Nov. 14 speech at the Practicing Law Institute’s 56th Annual Institute on Securities Regulation, Gensler said his focus for digital assets while leading the commission was having parties “register and give proper disclosure to the public” for roughly 10,000 tokens considered securities.

He also pointed to the SEC’s record of approving spot Bitcoin BTC$88,160 exchange-traded funds and BTC futures investment vehicles under his watch but suggested that some crypto firms had not followed “common-sense rules of the road.”

“This is a field in which over the years there has been significant investor harm,” said Gensler.

“Further, aside from speculative investing and possible use for illicit activities, the vast majority of crypto assets have yet to prove out sustainable use cases.

Everything we’ve done is focused on ensuring compliance with our laws.”

Though the SEC chair’s term ends in June 2026, Trump promised crypto users that he intended to fire Gensler “on day one” if elected, marking a potentially different direction the commission could take on crypto enforcement.

Experts have suggested that the president-elect could not remove Gensler without cause, nor has the SEC chair suggested he would resign.

It’s unclear if Trump has the authority to remove Gensler from the SEC. Any replacement would require Senate approval, but the Republican suggested he would attempt to bypass the chamber by making recess appointments for all of his cabinet and staff. At the time of publication, Trump had not announced any potential replacement for Gensler.

But, at the end of the prepared remarks, Gensler dropped a statement that sounded a lot like a ‘so long and thanks for all the fish’ comment:

Remarkable SEC Staff

Before I close, I want to say something about the SEC and its staff. It’s a remarkable agency. The staff and Commission are deeply mission- driven, focused on protecting investors, maintaining fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitating capital formation.

The lawyers, accountants, economists, policy experts, and other staff generally could make more money working somewhere else. They choose, though, to work on behalf of the public here at the SEC.

It’s been a great honor to serve with them, doing the people’s work, and ensuring that our capital markets remain the best in the world.

Conclusion

Sam and Jane Gensler, my mom and dad, never worked in finance or even completed college. When they invested their savings, our family benefited from the securities markets’ common-sense rules of the road.

The SEC’s effective administration of well-regulated securities markets promotes trust. It’s what brings investors and issuers to the market like fans to a football game. It’s what underpins the world’s largest capital markets. It’s what has contributed to our nation’s great economic success these last 90 years.

I’ve been proud to serve with my colleagues at the SEC who, day in and day out, work to protect American families on the highways of finance.

But things then went a little bit turbo for Liz Warren’s enforcer as CoinTelegraph’s Vince Quill reports that 18 US states have filed a lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Chairman Gary Gensler, accusing the financial regulator of “gross government overreach” against the nascent crypto industry.

The plaintiffs include Nebraska, Tennessee, Wyoming, Kentucky, West Virginia, Iowa, Texas, Mississippi, Ohio, Montana, and others.

The legal complaint reads:

“The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has not respected this allocation of authority.

Instead, without Congressional authorization, the SEC has sought to unilaterally wrest regulatory authority away from the States through an ongoing series of enforcement actions.”

According to the Blockchain Association, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s various legal actions against the crypto industry cost crypto firms a collective $426 million bill to fight against the regulatory agency’s enforcement actions and lack of clarity on a coherent digital asset policy.

The Israeli military is planning to stay in Gaza through 2025 and is stepping up demolitions and the construction of more permanent military structures, Haaretz reported on Wednesday.

There is a significant portion of Gaza’s territory that’s under the control of the Israeli military, where the IDF has been destroying every building in sight and establishing military outposts, including the Netzarim Corridor, a strip of land that separates northern Gaza from the rest of the Strip.

According to Haaretz, the Netzarim corridor is currently five to six kilometers wide and about nine kilometers long, and the Israeli military is working to expand it even more.

“Today, when you stand on the road in some places, you no longer see any houses,” an Israeli combat soldier said of the corridor, which includes the former site of a Jewish settlement.

The Israeli military has conducted a similar campaign of destruction along the Philadelphi Corridor, which is on the Gaza-Egypt border, and in a “buffer zone” along the entire Israel-Gaza border that cuts one kilometer into Gaza’s territory.

In those areas as well, virtually all the buildings have been destroyed, and military outposts are going up. Haaretz previously reported that the Netzarim Corridor, the Philadelphi Corridor, and the buffer zone account for 26% of Gaza’s territory.

In northern Gaza, Israel is now allegedly conducting an ethnic cleansing campaign focused on the cities of Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun, and Jabalia, which have been completely cut off from aid deliveries as the Israeli military is starving the civilian population. Israeli forces are also demolishing buildings in the northern cities so the expelled Palestinians have nowhere to return.

The ethnic cleansing campaign and conquering of Gaza’s territory is expected to pave the way for Jewish settlements in Gaza. “When you see the roads being paved here, it’s clear that this isn’t intended for the ground maneuvers or for raids by the troops into various places.

These roads lead, among other places, to the places from which some of the settlements were removed,” an Israeli officer in Gaza told Haaretz.

“I don’t know of any intent to rebuild them, that isn’t something we’re told explicitly. But everyone understands where this is going.”

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be secretary of Health and Human Services.

The 70-year-old Kennedy has been a longtime health advocate who Trump said he would let “go wild,” should he win the November 5 election.

“He’s going to help make America healthy again. … He wants to do some things, and we’re going to let him get to it,” Trump said during his victory speech. “Go have a good time, Bobby.”

In a post to Truth Social, Trump said:

That said, Politico suggested that Kennedy “may still face a steep slope to confirmation” over his fight against overvaccination, and his book accusing former NIH official Anthony Fauci of conspiring with Bill Gates and drugmakers to sell COVID-19 vaccines.

Kennedy says he isn’t taking vaccines away from anyone – he just wants to ensure they’re safe.

Kennedy also says he’ll recommend against adding fluoride to drinking water, as it’s “almost certainly” causing an IQ loss in children, according to some studies.

On a day when producer prices confirmed what consumer prices warned yesterday – that the inflation genie is not back in the bottle – Fed Chair Jay Powell will be interviewed by WaPo reporter Catherine Powell at the Dallas Fed, presumably to reassure the world that he is ‘independent’, is not about to be fired by Trump, and that everything is awesome on the rate-cutting path.

Traders should expect Powell to reiterate the points he made at the FOMC press conference last week when he refused to provide specific guidance regarding the December meeting, stressed data-dependency and noted the Fed does not want to see further cooling in the labor market.

While hope remains high for the ‘soft landing’ narrative, today we see inflation resurgent at the same as jobless claims hit six-month lows…

Does that look like ‘data’ that would prompt The Fed to cut again in December?

Or will Powell be Burns 2.0?

Insurance mogul Greg Lindberg has pleaded guilty to conspiracy in a $2 billion fraud and money laundering scheme that defrauded thousands of insurance policyholders, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Lindberg pleaded guilty on Nov. 12 to one count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States and one count of money laundering in a scheme to defraud insurance regulators and policyholders.

The 54-year-old Tampa resident faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison for the two counts, the DOJ said in a Nov. 12 statement. Lindberg is the founder of Eli Global LLC and owner of Global Bankers Insurance Group.

Prosecutors said that Lindberg conspired to defraud various insurance companies and policyholders through a web of companies based in North Carolina, Bermuda, Malta, and elsewhere between 2016 and 2019.

According to his indictment, Lindberg allegedly deceived the North Carolina Department of Insurance and other regulators and evaded regulatory requirements designed to protect insurance policyholders.

The insurance magnate was accused of using insurance company funds for his personal benefit by purchasing real estate and “forgiving” more than $125 million in loans from his affiliated companies to himself.

It stated that Lindberg and his co-conspirators engaged in “circular transactions” among his affiliated companies to invest more than $2 billion in loans and other securities and then laundered the scheme’s proceeds.

Prosecutors alleged that Lindberg provided false statements about his insurance business to regulators and obscured the real financial health of his companies. The scheme has led to some of his insurance companies being put into rehabilitation and liquidation, it stated.

“Thousands of policyholders suffered substantial financial hardship as a result of Lindberg’s fraud scheme, which left multiple companies in or on the brink of liquidation,” DOJ Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Nicole Argentieri said in a statement.

“The Justice Department will not hesitate to hold corporate executives accountable when they threaten critical sectors of the economy, like the insurance industry, to enrich themselves.”

The Epoch Times reached out to Lindberg’s attorney but did not hear back by publication time.

In May, a federal judge convicted Lindberg and his consultant, John Gray, of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud and bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. They face a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison for the charges. A sentencing date has not been set.

Lindberg and Gray were accused of trying to offer $1.5 million to North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey in campaign contributions in exchange for the removal of the North Carolina Department of Insurance’s senior deputy commissioner, who was responsible for overseeing the regulation of Lindberg’s company.

Two months later, during the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, many expected Trump to announce just that, but while getting tantalizingly close during his lengthy pro-crypto speech, the past and future president refused to make an explicit commitment, even though some viewed this as merely a delay until pro-crypto president moved back to the White House.

So fast forward to today when in what is a preview of things to come at the Federal level, Fox Business reported that Trump’s imminent return to the White House has prompted Pennsylvania lawmakers to introduce legislation that would enable the state’s treasury to hold the world’s largest digital asset on its balance sheet as part of a broader movement to recognize bitcoin as a store of value.

The new bill, called the Pennsylvania Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Act, introduced in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Thursday, is the first of its kind and would allow the state’s treasury to allocate up to 10% of its roughly $7 billion state funds into bitcoin as a way to help combat inflation and diversify its investments beyond traditional assets like bonds and cash reserves.

“The Pennsylvania Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Act is a visionary step toward securing our state’s financial future,” Republican Pennsylvania state Rep. Mike Cabell, the bill’s sponsor, told FOX Business. “By integrating Bitcoin into our reserves, we’re not only protecting Pennsylvania from inflation’s relentless impact but also positioning our state as a leader in financial resilience and innovation.”

The legislation comes as pro-crypto senators say they’re hoping to push through a bitcoin reserve bill on the national level during the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency.

The strategic reserve act is the second piece of crypto-related legislation to go in front of the state legislature this year. Last month, the state’s House passed a bill to protect residents’ rights to self-custody digital assets and ensure their ability to use bitcoin as a payment method. FOX Business reported on the Bitcoin Rights bill that’s slated to move on to the Republican-led Senate in the coming weeks and, if passed, onto Gov. Josh Shapiro’s desk for signing.

The advocacy group that helped Pennsylvania lawmakers craft the Bitcoin Rights bill, Satoshi Action Fund, is also behind the new strategic reserve bill according to Fox Business. The group’s main goal is to help to mainstream bitcoin at the state level, and it has so far succeeded in helping write and pass bitcoin-related legislation in twenty-one states. Its founder, Dennis Porter, is hoping the strong bipartisan support garnered on the October rights bill will be a bellwether for how the strategic reserve bill will be received.

“The Bitcoin Rights bill sailed through the Democrat-led House with a majority of 176 votes to 26,” Porter said. “With public support and interest in Bitcoin at an all-time high, we expect both bills to be passed and hopefully signed into law next year.”

Porter says the strategic reserve act is expected to serve as a model for other states looking to integrate digital assets into their investment portfolios and says that SAF is currently in talks with 10 other states to implement similar legislation.

If the bill is passed into law, Pennsylvania would become the first state to hold bitcoin directly on its balance sheet, marking the first step in what could become a shift towards digital assets playing a bigger role in the economic strategy of state governments.

“This legislation sends a clear message: Pennsylvania is ready to embrace bold, modern solutions to safeguard economic prosperity for generations to come,” Cabell said.

Optimism that Trump will fulfill his promises to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the planet” and bitcoin a “permanent national asset” has made its price surge 20% in the week since his victory, reaching an all-time high of more than $93,000 per token and a market cap of over $1.8 trillion. This makes bitcoin the world’s seventh-largest asset behind gold and five U.S. tech giants, including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google.

The surge in bitcoin ahead of what appears an increasingly likely announcement by the US that it will formally buy crypto for the US Treasury has prompted speculation that other nations are doing the same in hopes of acquiring the scarce asset before Uncle Sam swoops in and buys it up.

Last year, the FBI official who oversaw the initial investigation into who planted the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill pipe bombs told Congress that cell phone data from that probe was “corrupted.”

“We have complete data. Not complete, because there’s some data that was corrupted by one of the providers—not purposely by them, right,” former FBI official Steven D’Antuono told the House Judiciary Committee in a transcribed interview.

“It’s just unusual circumstances that we have corrupt data from one of the providers. I can’t remember right now which one. But for that day, which is awful because we don’t have that information to search.”

It turns out, D’Antuono—who oversaw the FBI’s 2020 Gov. Whitmer kidnap case before being transferred to Washington DC just in time for Jan. 6—may have perjured himself.

The House Oversight Subcommittee said Thursday that it has found no evidence to support the claims from D’Antuono, who is now retired.

This is a major development and credit to the committee for pursuing this.

“Chairman [Rep. Barry Loudermilk] has learned that no cell carrier provided corrupted phone data to the FBI in connection with the pipe bomb investigation, despite claims,” the subcommittee said on Twitter/X.

Loudermilk provided more details about his findings to Just the News.

“In June 2023, the former Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, Steve D’Antuono, who oversaw the pipe bomb investigation, said that the FBI received corrupted data from one of the cell carriers and that it most likely contained the identity of the pipe bomber. Given the significance of this information, my Subcommittee sent letters to the three major cell carriers, asking them to respond to Mr. D’Antuono’s claim of corrupted data,” he reportedly said.

“Every major cell carrier responded and confirmed that they did not provide the FBI corrupted data,” Loudermilk told Just the News.

“Additionally, every major cell carrier confirmed they were never notified that the FBI had any issues accessing the data. This contradictory testimony raises some serious questions about the status of the investigation into the pipe bomber and about why the case remains unsolved nearly four years later,” he added.

Just the News also published a letter Loudermilk wrote to FBI Director Chris Wray last month, asking him to comment on the veracity of D’Antuono’s testimony.

“Did the FBI receive corrupted or otherwise unusable cellular data returns from one or more of the cell carriers in connection with the investigation into the individual who planted two explosive devices at the RNC and DNC on the evening of January 5, 2021? If so, which cell carrier(s) provided corrupted data to the FBI?” Loudermilk asked Wray.

Loudermilk sought answers by the end of October, but apparently didn’t receive any. It’s not clear why he kept silent on the matter before Election Day.

Despite the total collapse of progressive Hollywood or the total collapse of the Democratic Party, the political left is loathe to admit that woke ideology has absolutely destroyed their connection with the general public.  Why?  Because “woke” was meant to become the new religion of the ages.  Without woke, they have nothing.

Woke ideology is a progressive doctrine designed to sabotage western principles, morality and heritage.  But it’s also a system of “faith” that revolves around self worship and perpetual victimhood.  Leftists understand that their movements lack a spiritual imperative – A connection to something greater that inspires people to stay the course.  Pure atheism is not very inspiring, so woke became the cult of the new order.  The problem is, wokeness has failed and now leftists don’t know what to do.

With the embarrassing defeat of Kamala Harris in the 2024 election questions are arising even among some Democrats, wondering if woke cultism was a mistake that cost them the presidency.  The progressive devout, however, are screaming “No!”  They’re scrambling to come up with any other excuse and their mental gymnastics are a sad display.

One such denial came from The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart this week.  Stewart often tries to wear the costume of a moderate Democrat or a middle-of-the-road, old school liberal.  He can’t quite pull off the facade and his true face comes out in moments of panic.  In an attempt to explain away Donald Trump’s total election dominance, Stewart outright denies that wokeness had anything to do with the Democrat defeat.

Jon Stewart’s constant mugging for the camera and for laughs betrays a certain desperation.  He doesn’t really have an answer for why leftists are so widely despised by the general public.  But, he claims it can’t be wokeness because so many Democrat candidates ran on the side of conservative policies. 

What he dishonestly fails to mention is that most of the candidates featured in his segment were Democrats running for office in deep red states.  They had no choice but to pretend to be anti-woke for the past four months because their own internal polling told them they had no chance to win otherwise.       

But what about for the past several years?  Well, Stewart conveniently ignores the fact that Democrats joyfully embraced wokeness with the establishment of the Biden Administration.  This is undeniable.  Joe Biden and Kamala Harris initially ran on a brazenly woke platform.  Harris openly demanded that the country become “more woke” in opposition to the first Trump Administration.

Every policy of the Biden/Harris regime centered on promoting identity politics.  The Democrat Party’s foundation for at least the past eight years has been rooted in radical feminism, DEI, ESG and trans propaganda.  So much so that Biden made a “trans woman”, Rachael Levine (originally Richard Levine), the Assistant Secretary of Health.  Levine has consistently promoted gender reassignment treatments for children. 

Jon Stewart defended the transing of children and “experts” like Levine in a debate with Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.  Take note that his claims of a widely accepted consensus on gender reassignment among scientists, psychiatrists and medical experts is completely fabricated.  There is no such consensus:

Biden also made a “non-binary” drag queen, Sam Brinton, a top Energy Department official.  (Brinton was later caught stealing women’s luggage at airports and removed from his position).  

This is the kind of circus you get when your government goes woke.  Democrat leaders avidly sung the praises of Critical Race Theory being taught in public schools, along with radical gender theory propaganda (which has no basis in legitimate science).  They injected the same concepts into the upper echelons of the US military.  They also attacked anyone critical of men identifying as trans who participated in women’s sports, and asserted that these same men should be allowed access to women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. 

Third wave feminist delusions that men and women are biologically equal infected Democrat rhetoric.  DEI requirements spread like wildfire in progressive run colleges, corporations and government offices.  Democrats supported it all, thinking in their delusion that the rest of America stood with them.

This is why Jon Stewart’s dismissals of woke failure ring hollow.  For many years woke has been the sole foundation of the Democratic Party; remove identity politics, third wave feminism, CRT and trans theories and what do the Democrats have left?  There is nothing left.

Analysts are beginning to speak out on the Democrat’s ill conceived adoption of the far-left activism and many are suggesting the ideology has made it impossible for the party to win elections in the future.

The bottom line is this:  “Get Woke, Go Broke” is forever.  It is a law of physics.  It is immutable.  High profile leftists like Stewart will never admit this because they are embedded deeply within the halls of the progressive aristocracy.  To admit to the death of woke is to be cast out of elitist society as a heretic.  Beyond that, Stewart’s ego can’t handle the truth – His ilk have been utterly rejected by the majority of Americans.  They’re on the wrong side of history.  They are the villains.

The Prime Minister of Ireland suggested during an interview that illegal migrants don’t even exist, refusing to even acknowledge that the term has any meaning.

The head of the Taoiseach was asked by the host, “So do you know how many illegal migrants we have in the country at the moment?”

He responded by acting completely baffled, before suggesting that there is no such thing.

“What does the phrase illegal migrants mean? Because that’s a phrase that is used by some but that’s not a phrase in law,” said Simon Harris.

“Anybody has a right to come here and seek international protection, it is the job then of the Department of Justice to assess the validity of that application,” he added.

The assertion that anybody from anywhere in the world has a right to travel to Ireland without any ID or documentation of who they are is a tacit admission that Ireland no longer has any real form of border control.

Ireland has been completely deluged by economic migrants, vast numbers of whom have set up in tent cities in major Irish cities, notably the capital Dublin.

This has sparked unruly protests by Irish citizens, most recently in Athlone, where locals showed up to protest plans to accommodate 1,000 male asylum seekers at Radisson Blu Hotel in the town.

As we previously highlighted, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary asserted that the country’s asylum system was “a complete scam” and that such individuals “are not refugees” because they are arriving from safe countries and then flushing their passports down the toilet.

“They show up here…it’s a complete scam and these are not refugees, one of the things that drives me nuts in Ireland is we treat people as refugees who are coming from the UK or from France,” he complained.

“Nobody got to Ireland from Afghanistan or from Kenya or from Nigeria or from Syria on a direct flight because there aren’t any, so you’re not fleeing persecution in the UK or in Germany,” O’Leary added.
